  • Anna Nicole Smith

Well my tongue is getting better and I’m pretty close to very near talking like the average person; so that’s a relief.  On to other things does anybody care about Anna Nicole Smith dying?  Personally, I thought she was a joke for the past five to seven years or so and I lost a lot of respect for her. Because I did at one time think she was beautiful, classy, and sweet; but then she married an old guy and started to lose control of her life. You know the sad thing is I do feel bad nobody was looking out for her. Because I feel despite all her faults that she brought on herself, deep down inside there was a good person there; it’s just a shame nobody in her life cared about her whatsoever. If anything is to be gained from this it’s that the friends and family in one’s life should be there for you in case of troubles, not ignoring you and watch your life go to a hell in a hand basket. Where were Anna’s friends and loved ones?  Not that she doesn’t deserve alot of the blame because it is here life and at some point the buck does stop with you, but still it could have helped her somewhat.  I felt when her one true love Daniel died her life died and it probably was envitable, but still you always wonder.

  • Frustration

Having a big tongue and big teeth, it does have a drawback it means you bite your tongue more easily and let me tell the days after aren’t fun.  Like right now I feel like a complete moron.  I bit my tongue a couple days ago and it still hurts. The worst thing about it is trying to have coherent conversations with people.  They will constantly ask you what’s the matter with your tongue and to feel embarassed to know that you bit it is a bitch. Hopefully this feeling will go away very, very very soon so I can talk to people normally and have a descent meal. You practically sound like a mute, except when people really need to ask you something. God it’s embarassing, hopefully though this semi-pain and embarassment will be gone soon. Besides that nothing going on though.

  • Why this early/Something you didn’t know

I can’t believe the presidential season has started this early. I mean the Democrats have their winter meetings this weekend where all the presidential contenders speak about why they should president, this early, yikes, you’d think they would push this off til at least late spring/early summer. I don’t know when the Republicans have there’s but if it’s like the Democrats, well put to you this way, we just had the primaries several months ago, you’d think they would give us a little bit of a break and do something for “us” the people. Or is Congress going to be no better than last one and god knows how little they did, just a little something to think about. Time will tell. Not that I don’t have people that I’m interested in but I can wait a couple more months. Who knows maybe I’m the exception?

Here’ s something you probably didn’t know about me I have this fear of flying over water. Stupid right?  I’ve flown over the Gulf of Mexico a couple of times, but those were for brief periods in the flight, not sustained. Put it to you this way I probably couldn’t take a trip let’s say to Europe or even to some place like Hawaii. I just have this thing about I think about the plane crashing over water, I don’t know why I think like that but I do and I’m like please hurry the plane as fast as you can so where back over land. I know what your thinking what your saying makes no sense. Maybe it does and maybe I can be perceived as foolish, but it’s just something I would think about if I flew over water for a sustained period of time. I know why wouldn’t you think about it when your flying over land, the question, I don’t know. I guess you learn something new about someone everyday, well this is one you’ve learned about me.

  • Lohan, Spears, and Hilton/2007 politics

So what’s the first thing in mind when you think of Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton. Do you think give these girls a break they have it rough. Yeah I know I should be smacked in the “you no where” for even suggesting that. Or should they be praised for how they’ve become such good role models for there fans and kids in general. Ok I know I should get a double smack for that one plus I should see a doctor for brain trauma. But if I said these girls are acting like sluts who drive down the morality of our culture and are horribile role models, the worst of any kind, I think I would probably be on par with what America thinks and what I think and hopefully what you think. By the way welcome a new 2007 to everyone hope things are settled with you and your getting used to your classes this semester or whatever your doing. As someone pointed to me elections with be coming up before you no and the jockeying will begin. Who will be the leaders on either side?  Will Democrats like Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Joe Biden, Tom Vilsack, and others bring us something new or the same tired old election talk. On the Republican side will John Mccain, Mitt Romney, Rudy Guilani, Newt Gingrich, and others bring about new fresh ideas or the same. Plus this may be the last chance in Iraq to make it right if it fails then troop removal is certain(though Bush can be stubborn so I don’t know), if it works give the guy his due for sticking to it. But people want the troops out and see this plan as nothing but hollow and certain for doom. I don’t agree with all aspects of it, but we can’t remove all our troops.  But it doesn’t look good. What do you think?

  • End of 2006 and into 2007

Was your 2006 a good a year or bad year or somewhere in the middle?  Are you looking forward to 2007? Do you have an regrets for the year or things that you can take back?  Ok, I know what your saying shut up bonehead and get to your point.  Well the gist of it is we all had things that happened in 2006 and we hoped they went well (of course nothing goes perfectly or right) so we do the best we can. I’ll try and give you a brief insight into my year and what I see for me in 2007.

    In 2006:

1)Did school go well? :  On a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 5.  My grades stayed steady and showed some improvement for the first half, the fall was put it to you bluntly blah. Blame it on procrastination and laziness and some other stuff, but that’s the jist of it.

2)Did anything significant happen?:  I went to my brother’s graduation and he and his wife had a baby, so that was good.  With me nothing really.

3)Did you go anywhere significant?:  New Mexico and Pennsylvania(Philadelphia); I had a great time on both trips and would go back there anytime.

4)Did you meet anyone of significance this year?  Unfortunately no, but there’s always next year.

5)Did you meet any new friends? No, not really. I mean I communicated with people online, but basically, it wasn’t that significant.

6)Xanga and Myspace?:  With Xanga I continued to use it on a regular basis, but communication and use from others diminished somewhere in the middle to the fall of the year and due to that I post less frequently though I still post and appreciate everyone who still does, like Deidra(I call her the Xanga Queen, because she uses it so much, I know corny) and at times Lisa P.  With Myspace, I use it more but I feel more frustrated there than here. I mean sometimes I comment wishing my friends a merry christmas or ask them how they are, but I don’t get a response. Well that’s something I’ll try and figure out in 2007.

7)How was your Thanksgiving and Christmas?  Very good, I enjoyed the time I spent with my family and that’s what made both a good time. Yes I did get stuff on Christmas (all clothes), but material things at this age really seem to lose significance of what I value about the holidays, I know corny.

8)All in all how would you rate this year? About a 5.5, though this is how I viewed most years, I always feel I could do better.

Most importantly what I should focus on is having a happy and meaningful 2007. Because this is a key year for me, especially for school, if everything goes according to plan, I should graduate by the end of next year. So it’s important I keep my focus and work harder than I did in 2006, because my laziness did show this semester, I can’t have it show no more. I need to complete graduation and then figure out what I’m going to do with my politicial science major. Anyway all the best to everyone out there hope your year was good for you and I hope 2007 will be the same. Only a couple more days til the end of 2006 enjoy make them great and I hope everyone has a GREAT NEW YEAR!!!!

  • New Mexico trip/Hillary and Obama

I’m back from my trip to New Mexico, I visited my brother and his wife and their baby. I enjoyed visting the White Sands Monument Park and the National Space Museum. Seeing that I’m very lazy, I got more of a workout climbing the sand dunes in White Sands than I do in two months. It’s a must see sight to go to. It was good and I loved looking at the mountains their beautiful(you have to take a picture of them if you go there).  If your in New Mexico, you have to just stop and look at the mountains, they are site to see.  It’s a worthwile trip trust me.

Democrats please tell me what do you see in Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama?  If either of them get elected in the Democratic primaries they have no shot of winning the 2008 Presidential Election.  Clinton is a complainer and never brings about ideas for the future.  Like what Mrs. Clinton is your plan for victory in Iraq or your plan for an energy plan.  The only thing I hear from her is to bring back universal health care back from 1993 and we all saw where that went. Hillary is no Bill, he had charisma, he had ideas, if she has some please tell me because I’m still waiting. Obama, I know why people like him.  It’s his charisma and his ability to want to bring civility back in politics, I’m all for it.  In fact I loved his speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, he outshined Bill Clinton(how many people do that now!). But here’s the thing what’s his political views?  It’s nice to want to bring people together and want civility(I want that more than anything), but what’s your view of the world? His views seem to be very left, he wants to pull out of Iraq in six months, and from what I’ve heard his views in the political world aren’t up to speed with most Americans.  Maybe I’m wrong?  I’d take Obama over Hilary(you couldn’t convince me to vote for her), I like Obama as a person and I like him wanting to bring civility back to politics. But I still want to know what he’s going to do for this country. I’m an independent, I’m open for anyone in 2008.  My top three candidates are Joe Biden, Bill Richardson, and John Mccain.  Unfortunately I don’t think Dems will give Biden or Richarson a chance, because they’re so stuck on those two. If the Dems won’t give either of those leaders a chance, I’m going with Mccain.

  • The upcoming primaries

Only 5 days away til the primaries and we find out if Republicans can hold on to both the House of Representatives and Senate. I think they will probably lose 4 seats, therefore they with maintain hold of the Senate and I think the House of Representatives will probably go Democratic, but just barely. If Republicans lose 15 seats, Democrats will control the Congress. I think the Dems will pick up between 15-20 seats(no more) to take control. Though the key will be the “get out the vote” by both Republicans and Democrats. Republicans practically have a stranglehold on this and usually embarass the Dems(especially in 2004). If the Dems are complacent(which can easily happen) with voters, then I can see the Republicans barely holding on to the House of Representatives. The fact of the matter is getting leaders who want to accomplish things. I think we should hope that our elected representatives that are voted in are people who want to be active and not  be a bunch of bickering immature partisans. I will be voting on Tuesday, I hope you are to. I will tell you who I voted for down here in Florida after the primaries on Tuesday.

  • What do liberals and conservatives dream about?

So ever wonder what conservatives and liberals dream about, well someone did a study and found out. In 2005, Kelly Bulkeley, did a study in which she had 134 self-described liberals and 100 self-described conservatives in a lengthy sleep and dream survey.  The results found out that conservatives sleep more soundly, with fewer dreams and liberals have more restless sleep and a more active dream life. They also concluded liberals and conservatives have an equal proportion of bad dreams and nightmares. While liberals have more bizarre ones than conservatives.  If you want to find out more go to www.kellybulkeley.com/dream_politices.htm . My question is why didn’t they test moderates?  According to a 2004 Harris poll, 40% of the American public are moderates, with 33% being conservatives and 18% liberals. We moderates rule. I’m a moderate I would like to know what I dream about? Though I do have an active dream life, alot of it is a mixture of boring to somewhat interesting dreams. I tend to forget the dreams that are of most interest. Oh well, maybe they could include 100 moderates in their study next time. Then they would have the true pulse of America. But really dreams and the way you interepret them are all up to you. Does the way you dream fit your ideology?

  • Get off Clinton’s back!

Everyone’s talking about the interview Bill Clinton did with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, everybody has there own assesment, here’s mine. Leave the guy alone! Did Bill Clinton overreact to Chris Wallace’s question about Bin Laden, that’s up for you. I say, like Bill O’Reilly said, he reacted that way out of pure frustration. He said it himself, he failed to get Bin Laden, to me over and done with. If you can tell throughout he felt he tried the best he could throughout his presidency to capture Bin Laden, he may have committed some blunders along the way, but guess what he owns up to it and we can’t do anything right now about it anyway. We have a war in Iraq, we are trying to make sure Afghanstain’s in good shape. Hindsight is 20/20, I’ll be the first to say he made mistakes, but what’s to be gained honestly. To say what if he did this maybe 9/11 wouldn’t have happened. But your playing guessing games. We shouldn’t blame Clinton or Bush or any of their administrations for 9/11, you know who we should blame, Bin Laden and the terrorists. They caused the massive destruction and loss of life, they will go straight to hell, when they die. But this is unproductive. Dick Morris, Clinton’s former strategist, said, “There he was on live television, the man those who worked for him have come to know – the angry, sarcastic, self-righteous, bombastic bully, roused to a fever pitch.” He said that in a current article in The Hill. I don’t trust Dick Morris at all, he is a sneaky opportunist, who likes to bash Bill Clinton any opportunity he gets. I said there were Bush haters out there, but I forget about the Clinton haters, when you think their gone they reappear. The question was legit, I’m not blaming Wallace, I think he is a good and qualified journalist. But I think this debate really ought to stop. We are in a war, where troops are in danger everday and I’m afraid we got a war(this current debate) which shows how nasty and partisan ideological a nation we really are.

  • Sticking up for my home city!

South Florida to me gets a bad rap, ok, I’ll put it differently it gets slammed way to often by others. First off, why would I be bringing this up, well I take a popular culture class and today we got into a discussion of what’s real in today’s society. So someone raises their hand and goes off saying that South Florida isn’t real, it’s very superficial compared to most places, appearence seems to be what’s concentrated on here. First off I have nothing aganist this girl, she seems like a very nice person, but it just offended me deeply!  I also should note in passing that a girl two weeks earlier had nearly said the same thing, so maybe that’s why I got a little mad. No, I didn’t throw a tantrum in class or anything lol; I just was sick of hearing the place where I was born(Miami) getting pissed on by people. I should note that I’ve lived in South Florida all my life, so I know what I’m talking about.

Ok, I know what your thinking take a chill pill, relax, calm down it’s just two people. Well I’m sorry I had to say something. I just said I’ve lived here all my life and South Florida is just as real as anywhere else, to say it’s superficial come on! I know there are places in the United States that people may say are more “real” than here, fine, that’s there opinion, I have no problem with that. But just to come out and just slam an area like that without bringing up anything good about, come on that’s ridiculous! You know this isn’t the first time I’ve dealt with this. Several years ago, there were people who just came out and attacked this area and when I spoke up and tried to defend my birthplace then the teacher agreed with the students and I felt like I was being ganged up on. All these people grew up in the Northeast.  When I spoke up this time, I still felt like a lonely bird, but at least it was more friendlier. I should say I  more or less am sticking up for Dade County and the city of Miami, Palm Beach county and Boca well not really. Just because a state is good, doesn’t mean there are one or two counties that aren’t up to par.  I’m just a proud Floridian, and maybe the argument is well you haven’t lived anywhere else, fine I’ll concede that point. But to me living down here isn’t just about the nightlife and South Beach, when I grew up in Miami for the first fifteen + years of my life I knew real people and there just like everywhere else. Today when I drive down to see family or others, the people are still the same, real problems with real issues. You may think this is a rant isn’t it, no, it’s something I believe and would tell you tomorrow. I just wish sometimes some people who didn’t grow up here and have a pre-conceived notion of it, be more open-minded and see the good things that exist here. My belief they won’t. South Florida, more importantly Miami, is a great environment and place to grow up and to those who can’t see that then that’s their problem!
