I watched the special about Religion: Church and State on FoxNews on Sunday. I actually found the words seperation of church and state weren't in the Constitution. The first person to envoke this phrase was Thomas Jefferson in a letter that he had written. The special also stated that religion in the country is under atttack. Which I guess is debatable. Take the case of atheist Michael Newdow who wanted the words "under god" taking out of the pledge of alliance because he feels his daughter was forced to say it by the school. Just a point he doesn't even have custody of his daughter his mom does. I'm aganist the words being taken out just because it's a tradition that I'm so used to and why break with tradition. Are you for the words "under god" being taken out of the pledge of alliance? Anyway Christianity is under attack according to alot of sources as well but to me it is exatterated.
This is just an open-ended question that I could use your input on do I talk too much about politics and does me talking about politics alot on my site drive you away from sometimes responding or reading it?

Well, to me...the whole "under God" part of the pledge of alliegance is that...our country was founded on religious principles. I mean sure, it wasn't ONLY religious prosecution that led everyone to come to America but it was a main one. So yes, that kind of should mean that those who don't believe in the Christian "God" shouldn't have to say, "under God" but yet...those that founded our country, most believed in that God. I think it should stay, and this is coming from a future public school teacher : )
As for the whole Christianity being under attack... I think its no more under attack now than it always has been...just a bit more being heard about it. And yes, a lot of it is exaggeration or viewpoints from people that don't really matter in the whole debate.
Your questions about politics doesn't drive me away but there are times I don't post only because it requires a bit of time to actually figure out how to get all my rambled thoughts into a somewhat readable paragraph. And then as for politics itself...remember? I've become naive under my own will. "Ignorance is bliss."
But hey, you have better posts than I do on my site : ) And when are you getting yahoo or aol instant messenger?
Hey! I'm alive. I'll reply to your post when I'm not so dead. Thanks for all the great comments!
Probably to no surprise, I absolutely believe those words should be kept. Despite what the left will have you believe, this country was founded on faith and God. Our founding fathers had all intention of God being an integral part of our nation. You can see this all through our nation, especially our capitol. Bible verses are carved into stone in the capitol, and each session of Congress opens with a word of prayer. This is not exactly something the media tells you very often. The conotation of "seperation of church and state" is actually the opposite definition of what it was meant to denote. It was actually meant in refer to the fact that the government should be kept out of the church, because the government would corrupt the church. But our founding fathers had all intention of the church being an integral part of our government. The fact that the left wants to remove the very things that made this country great is ridiculous, but I wouldn't expect anything less from them these days. Luckily, I believe that most Americans know why and how our country was founded and we won't stand back and watch the liberals bring our country down.
Oh, I definately hold it against you : ) But I'm still going to keep in contact this way.
